We can all agree that 2020 hasn’t been the year any of us expected! Despite the slowed down pace, it hasn’t stopped the design world from continuing to push forward. Of course, an area of focus for us is bathroom design and here are the 3 biggest bathroom trends in Australia at the moment.
Moroccan influence
Traditionally if we’d have told you that Moroccan influences were taking over bathroom design, your mind would have probably gone to those brightly glazed decorative tiles or bold patterned floor tiles. Well in 2020, the Moroccan tiles that are on the rise are the organic, hand-chiseled tiles called Zellige (square) or Bejmat (rectangular).
Available in a range of muted, earthy colours, you only need to use these tiles in small doses to make a major impact.
We love how one of our clients used the spearmint Zelliges as a feature wall in their bathroom renovation below and we’ve curated plenty more pics to inspire you to consider these stunning tiles.
Tonal bathrooms
You no longer have to stick to the old formula of selecting floor tile + wall tile + feature tile to create a design-forward bathroom. While there’s nothing wrong with this approach, we want to show you how less really can mean more!
In 2020, one of the biggest bathroom trends is taking a more restrained, minimalist approach to tiles, tapware and vanities to create cohesive and tonal spaces.
Channel day-spa vibes at home by wrapping the same tile across all your walls and floor, and select bathware and tapware in complementing tones.
Here are some of our favourite bathrooms to show how you can pull off this look!
Curved forms
The final big trend that’s been gaining momentum is all about curved forms.
Bathrooms tend to be quite angular and cold (lots of hard materials used in the space) so we love how this trend plays with shape to soften spaces.
While round mirrors have been popular for many years, we’re now seeing more pill and arch shaped mirrors used. Vanities with rounded edges, curved bathroom walls, circular sky lights, and curved glass shower screens are a few other ways you could embrace this hot bathroom trend.
There you have the 3 biggest bathroom trends taking over 2020 as we see it! Which trend are you loving the most? We hope you gained plenty of inspiration from this article and even found a few images to save to your Pinterest account. Keep up to date with all our design inspo by following us on Instagram.
